Title: Any advice for replacing fork seals
Post by: Supershooter on May 07, 2017, 10:54:45 PM
I removed a fork to replace the seal and am wondering if there is a tip or trick to get it reinstalled correctly? Im concerned about having my forks correctly aligned when I'm done.

Keep the distance the tubes protrude through the triple tree the same and try sliding the axle in. If the axle slides in smoothly with out binding  you have it aligned. If the axle requires hitting with any form of hammer up to and including a sledge it is out of alignment. It should push in with the palm of your hand a little lubricant is allowable.
Regards Martin.

After watching Chris Harris tear apart a set of forks off a R65, I've decided to reinstall the fork that I removed and replace the seals with the forks on the bike. I'll grab a few crush washers and set started later this week.
