Title: Panchoplanets 91K75S Project
Post by: Panchoplanet on April 21, 2017, 09:44:26 AM
Greetings from Red Hook ny, first time posting. I'm in the process of massaging a 91' K75s back on the road after being idle since 2013. I acquired bike in a discombobulated state of disassembly, former owner attempted a cafe reboot but project stalled for past 3 years and I purchased bike as is.

As for the front forks one was leaking slightly and after correcting leak using the 35mm negative fix I'm trying to find dust seals as these are missing on these brembo forks. The gaiters where removed by po and I agree they don't look too appealing on a cafe racer build.

No luck yet finding any online, Google, eBay, and assorted sites have not produced a dust seal as of yet, now looking for a universal dust seal, have seen a few options but I need to get exact measurements before buying.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome

I think Max BMW has them - though they are not cheap (what is from BMW?)

Use the OEM seal installed on tubes that are free of burrs. It is a durable part.

Thanks guys for the quick reply, looking at the Max web site for the sliders it specifies 8/91 on, my bike has a build date of 1/91  :nono , just my luck. Will have to call Max and pick the parts guys brain and see what my options are.

At present am looking at a lengthy list of components like speedo, muffler, brake hoses, po deleted ABS system and cut up brake lines that I need to figure out, and other mods I need to get done before riding weather passes me by.

Thanks again and will post back with update concerning dust seals.

You need to look over all the diagrams, compadre. Your fork component is in diagram_0368. A couple different forks were used on the S. Verify by the diagram what you have.

It's not your luck that's the governing condition, yet. :giggles

Kind of overlooked because notes# listed K100 rs , but it could mean "also used by K100".
Will look into.
Thanks again, gotta run to work.

Title: K75S Speedo upgrade.
Post by: Panchoplanet on April 28, 2017, 02:59:27 AM
Hello again,
As I'm progressing with my K75 cafe project I'm getting rid of the cumbersome gauge cluster that is so up front and center and I'm replacing it with a Koso DL-03sr. I have read the article by koon from 3/16 (several times) and I'm wondering if anyone else has done a more recent install and/or if there are any advancements in any support products that could make this installation easier.

Also would like to find out if there are any actions that need to be taken after removing the factory ABS system.when I acquired the bike the system had been removed along with a bunch of other components and hardware, I'm trying to put Frankenstein back together again without any distructions. For a first time bike rebuilder I'm making progress. Need to tackle the gauge ,electrics, and the seat.
All responses will be appreciated.

TIA

Hello Pancho. The best, and maybe only, support product to replace the speedo is the Maru Labs BEP 3.0. It's a plug & play solution that makes the installation very easy. I bought it directly from Markus himself but there are several websites you can get it from.

As for the ABS, as long as you remove the two blue fuses (at least that's what's in the K100RS) along with all the piping and wiring you should be fine.

Update:
Have acquired the dust seals and missing hardware and front end is back together again and rolling. Exhaust is done for now, will offset to clear center stand in later project. Complete tune-up and service done, runs and idles great with good exhaust note.
Still need to rework cafe seat that po had purchased for project, seat is poorly made with one side straight and the other side slightly bulging creating the illusion the frame sticking out on right side of bike.
Still need to do Koso wiring, tail light and headlight fairing plus some other stuff in week to follow.

Update:  Bike is finished for now, you know project bikes are never really finished, will be taking a motorcycle safety course towards end of month to refresh my skills, besides it's been a long time since I've been on a bike, and will get DMV waiver for road test.

Trying to post some pics from my phone but keep getting error, site can'thandle request?
Will try with pc later.
