I'm changing my front wheel I need to replace the valve stem but I'm not sure what size to look for . I'm talking hole diameter.

Definitely don't use the rubber pull through ones, I've had one split and deflate out at speed.

I use the pull-throughs. What happened to me was a Cananda goose flew straight at me one day. It missed me but who knows?

I use the rubber pull throughs as well and also run my tires at the Chris Harris pressures - 40 psi front 44 rear - no issues so far

Sorry to revive an old thread, but fiche shows both 8mm and 15mm stems for a '86 K75c, and I see a few posts where folks are recommending the 11.3mm Bikemaster stems. So confusing. Going to go with the Moto-D angled valve stem, but what size do I really need; 8.3 or 11.3 mm are offered.

Which fiche is that, Lastunder? The MaxBMW fiche indicates 8mm for Y-spoke wheels and 15mm for tri-spoke wheels. Tri-spokes are the later model wheel. Which do you have? In either case, you might be able to fit the extra .3 mm of the right angle stem through the hole but you must be certain that the horizontal run of the right-angle stem does not hit the brake caliper during wheel rotation. That means getting a short stem or angling the stem when mounting it.

I've used them on my bikes and they are the standard on tubeless cars forever so I don't know that this is an issue :dunno2:

Thanks Laitch. As always, you bring clarity to my bike maintenance. I have the Y spokes, so 8.3 mm for me. Appreciate the help, didn't notice that nuance in rim types and appreciate you pointing it out.

Claification on the valve failure.The pull through ones that failed on my Brick were the right angle ones. When you inflate them you are pushing them to one side. This can eventually weaken in that spot, and eventually fail. When I went back to the shop that fitted the tyres and the valves his first comment was these valves are for scooter use. He then asked who fitted them, when I said they did no further comments were made. I now use another shop for tyres.

Thanks for the clarification. I see where this may be an issue on 90 degree stems.

The moto-d ones screw-compress on the rim, so I'm hoping those will be the bomb. Plus, the red will add a little pizazz

I'm surprised this hasn't devolved into a presta versus schraeder discussion, though I'm not aware of presta valves being available for anything but bicycle tires.
I use the rubber pull=through and usually change them with each new tire replacement, overkill for sure but I've never had a valve stem failure.

this motobricker used heavy duty truck rubber pull thru and replaced them approx yearly during tior change...
since going with valve stem mounted tior pressure monitor system have been using short straight metal valve stems..
90deg valve stems on motobricks have known issues... the proper 90deg valve stems like the low profile oe like on goldwings dont fit the brick... so be forewarned about centrippital force and valve stem failures...
