Scored a pair of cases finally, but can't find anything online for how the hinges work. Does anyone have a reference site or video of how the plastic hinges go together? My cases split completely in two when I delatch them, so clearly I don't have them set up correctly. Searched this site and YouTube without luck.
Thanks in advance

Pictures? It'd help all of us help you if we had an idea of their exact set-up and configuration. My gut response is the plastic strips that slide into both parts are likely missing, or have moved themselves out of place. Also, not all of the latches work with all of the cleats, so it may be that too.
Again... Pics?

Ahhh, something missing that would slide onto the two plastic lips - that makes sense. I've contacted the Motobricker that sold them to me; hopefully he still has them in his garage. If not, I imagine I'll have a tough time finding them.
Pic attached, and thanks for the tip!

Hinges are still available and cost under $10(you need two for each case). Takes about two minutes to slide them on. I carry a couple spares on trips just to be safe.

I would think that the hinges would still be available from your nearest BMW dealer. Mine broke on a trip several years ago and since then I carry a spare set. They don't take up much space at all.

or if you get tired of them breaking, I did this about 25 years ago....

Yet again, I find this website the BEST for learning about my bike. Thanks guys!

I just replaced one after ordering online from Countryside BMW. I shoulda ordered a couple spares - no telling on the longevity of the flex joint after many open/close cycles.

Aggggh, so close but so far. Got the hinges and my cases are now good to go. Thanks everyone. Went out to install the z brackets thinking the mounting hardware would be on my bike and alas...newbie mistake. I see the parts I need for the left side at http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=0572-USA-06-1987-K569-BMW-K_75_S_0563,0572_&diagId=46_1269 (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=0572-USA-06-1987-K569-BMW-K_75_S_0563,0572_&diagId=46_1269)
I intend on grinding down the ...981 part by 5 mm to make it fit, per some other advice on here. I can't figure out why I need parts 18 and 17 though? I don't have a top rack. Can I skip that and just mount it to the top bracket holder on the frame?
Also, for the lift of me though, I can't find a mounting diagram for the right side mounting and parts requirements; anyone know where that is hiding?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

I don't see any parts with those numbers in the diagram you've linked into your post so I say forget about them. :giggles

You don't......it's only used on the 16V models where the Z-brackets is mounted wider out from the frame.
