Title: Newb in KY, First K-Bike

Hello all, Brad here. Just picked up my first K-bike on a trade. I've somehow managed to go through 50+ bikes over the years and never had one of these great machines. Anyway, this new bike is a 1995 K1100RS. It needs a little TLC, but appears to be a well cared-for bike with quite a few upgrades. Looking forward to racking up even more miles on this old girl.
Btw, if anyone has a pair of nice front turn signal lenses, I need them badly.

Welcome :bmwsmile !  Nice bikes.  I've been watching an 1100 locally for years!  The red just screams fast :eek:

Welcome!  BMW doesn't have those turn signal lenses anymore.  You can search on eBay for some, but you'll probably have to buy the whole mirror just to get the lens.  Figure $80-90 and up, and good luck finding a right side mirror.  They seem to suffer the most from falls as K-bikes seem to like falling on their right side.

My suggestion would be to just get rid of the mirrors.  They fall off if you even look at them, anyway.  Fill in the holes, and install some aftermarket turn signals and handlebar mounted mirrors.  By selling the old mirrors you can probably get enough to pay for the new mirrors and turn signals.

A while back I saw a photo of an RS that this was done to and it really looked pretty good.  Removing the big bulky mirrors and replacing them with smaller turn signals makes the fairing look a lot more sleek.

Thanks for the welcomes guys! Haven't put hardly any miles on the bike, but I'm really liking it so far. Maybe I'm just used to how harsh my SV1K is, but this has to be one of the smoothest machines I've ridden. The plan is to keep it pretty much as-is, with just some mild restoration and cleaning. I'm also going to look into rebuilding the forks to be better paired with the Ohlins that's on the rear.
Oh, I think I may have found some lenses for the indicators. We'll see.
