What have you been replacing your worn front rotors with? I'm down to the 4.5mm width and need new ones. The price of new BMW items is quiet simply - stupid.

I'm in the same boat, EBC's are around $170 ea like to find something cheaper

Mine are totally worn as well but as far as I can see EBC's are where it is at...
If there are cheaper options I would love to hear about them

The discs on my RT are getting near the service limit as well. Have been debating replacement and wonder, if as long as they are not warped or cracked, what is the reason for replacing them.
I realize that there is a concern with over-extending the caliper pistons. I am using the ultra inexpensive Volar pads, and see no reason not to change pads sooner to allow for extra disc wear. Seems like a good way to get a few more miles before I have to cough up the big bucks.
With new pads and a well serviced brake system how is your stopping power? I keep everything in good nick and when the brakes start to pulse or my regular cleaning shows a rotor crack that's when I will go for new discs.

The cheap options are about $180 for a pair, china no name. Brembos are about $240 per disk, EBC are about $190-250 . ummmmm

I've tried Chinese made rotors twice with different pads and they just chew out even with their brand of recommended soft pads. I've had an Email conversation with EBC because I've used their rotors previously, and they chopped out. I was told they are now using hardened rotors.
I now have a set of EBC fully floating rotors that I got cheap from the UK half the price of OZ rotors at $400.00 each. I am still running on the Chinese ones with soft pads trying to get my monies worth out of them.

I've replaced my rotors a couple of times, but was able to find some used ones reasonable, with near new thickness.
One word of caution(ok more than one.....) about riding the rotors below the wear minimum limit....... don't have an accident where they may check the equipment.... just sayin--if they find you have braking system out of spec--you may be up a creek without a paddle liability wise.

You do get what you pay for, so for 1/2 the price you get 1/2 the quality. I think I am going with Brembo unless some lightly used BMW disks become available.

I just replaced mine with the Grimeca brand sold on Motobins before a 6k mile ride. Came home looking just as I left, no complaints after 10k and are identical to the original design, approximately $200 for the pair.

Pallum, do they have rotors for ABS? Was that $200 price a special?

TMG I looked them up on the site and no they are for non ABS only... but they are still available at the same price £98.50 each

Move the ABS ring from your old disk to the new. The picture they have on the site for a front disk is a rear disk.

Really? That would work? That would be fantastic, both my fronts are at 5 mm and the rear even less. The three together from EBC via Amazon are over $600 :dunno

even the rear disk should have a shelf and drill holes for the abs ring. i don't see that in the picture. have you actually seen one of these in person and they will accomodate the abs ring?

the EBC disks don't come with abs rings either. you have to move them from the stock disks. leave disk in freezer overnight and the rings pop right off the old disks.

I put EBCs on the front, and I also deleted ABS. If I recall correctly, there was an option to buy an ABS disc for the front right, the left is same for ABS or not.
I have two pairs of original discs that I think are still in spec. If somebody wants them, send me a PM. I will measure thickness and offer a below-market price.

Yeah with EBC they specify whether it is ABS or not, I knew the ring doesn't come with the ABS one but had assumed a non ABS one doesn't have the holes to mount the ring or was in some other way different.

I think the organic pads are the way to go. I am using super inexpensive carbon kevlar pads that are able to trigger the ABS and don't grind away the rotors. People say the sintered pads are better in wet condition, but I ask, do you really want to lock up the brake on wet pavement? So far, braking in the wet is completely acceptable with the organic pads. But then, I slow down in the rain and ride even more defensively.
They do have a tendency to squeal a bit, but that is taken care of with a little squeal stop on the back.
