considering adding a stablemate for the K75s...a K1300s.
anyone have any experience with them? enticed by the better ABS, ASC and other goodies.
-
An acquaintance bought one last summer. Had something like 6,000 miles on it. He did a couple trips with it has put on another 5,000 on it. He likes it, and has had no issues with it.
-
I had one. Would easily wheelie in first 3 gears. Was fast and smooth. Effortless to ride, fast in the twisties.
Was good for 2 hour rides. Then the torture of excessive knee bend was too much for me.
Experienced no parts failures.
-
It's sport bike ergos for sure. Very solid, well engineered, fast bike to say the least. I found riding position to be uncomfortable after awhile, too much weight on my wrists. Prolonged sport bike riding is not my thing I guess.
You will find many who install helibars and lower the pegs in an effort to make the bike more comfortable.
-
checked one out. riding position really not that different from my 75s with stock bars. it may be in my garage this weekend.
the meeting...

Let us know what you think!

Marshall try this http://cycle-ergo.com/ (http://cycle-ergo.com/) you can put two bikes in and flick back and forth to compare.
Regards Martin.

I seriously want one those myself... you can get great low mileage models for a steal and they are super fast without being a jap liter bike screamer.
Now I just need to persuade 'she who must be obeyed' that buying a used bike sight unseen in the US to ship it down here to CR when I already have one BMW is a really good idea. :yes :mbird
-
Have you checked out the K 1300 GT? Ergos might be a lot better and you can ride it all year.

2009 model. have only ridden about a hundred yards. gotta get it insured and registered.
-
Looks like a nice clean bike, nice colour too congratulations.
Regards Martin.
-
Beautiful! Congratulations
-
i am sure it will be nice, but i can tell already the K slant just doesn't have the same soul as the K brick.
-
How does the rider position compare to the K75S?
-
Try this Crazy when you want to compare bikes, it even allows you to compare with feet down. http://cycle-ergo.com/

I took your advice and played with it...pretty cool site. Looks like the 1300 has you leaning forward just a little more than the 75
-
I did a comparison on the K100's and K75's I thought they would be the same except for the low seat. I got a surprise all different, who knew?
:dunno
Regards Martin.

thanks to martin's pointer i had played with that site also and the 13 was just a bit more forward. in actually sitting on the 13 and 75, the difference is so small i can't tell. biggest difference is the bars are much wider on the 13. the 13 as a whole looks bigger, but the actual dimensions, including weight, are almost the same as the K75.
nice pair of bookends...the earliest and lowest power "K....S" and last and most powerful "K....S".

I'm looking forward to your comments on the work you do no her. The late model "bricks" I've seen look like a royal pain in the ass to work on.
-
I can't take credit for the http://cycle-ergo.com/ (http://cycle-ergo.com/) Dirty Dr reminded me of it's existence hadn't used it for a while. I think Bokobob originally found it ? I'm with Gryph on the accessibility side of things on some of the newer BMW's. I don't even like working on the RT RS too much bodywork. Looking forward to comments on basic maintenance accessibility.
Good luck with your new affair regards Martin.

yeah...it ain't gonna be like working on a brick. nothing is accessible without removing tupperware. and even when you get to it, you need a diagnostics computer to troubleshoot and reset the electronics. there are no paper manuals available for it either. only repair info is on the BMW CD. there are a few decent forums for the Slant-K's, but seems most folks are not the DIY type.
pulled the Final Drive on my K75s today.....ahhh, bricks are so simple to wrench on!!!!
LOL, i put the tragkorbs on my shelf next to the K75 side cases....they look like toys. i think my K75 city cases hold more...
-
worked in a ride on the K13 yesterday. wow. scary power. blink and you are in triple digits. around town, like the K75 better. smoother. lighter handling. just easier.
on the highway....hard to beat the K13. actually quieter than K75, even with the remus muffler on the K13. comfy, gobs of power. incredible brakes. could chew up a lot of miles on this thing.
brakes had been last bled by the dealer 3 years ago. i did it with ATE200. it needed it. old fluid was darker soft with air. brakes feel much better now.

also installed a center stand...they actually do not come with them stock!
