Need to balance my air intake at the throttle body. There are some dust caps next to the adjustment screws (see attached picture). Does the fit of these caps influence anything or they just keep dust out? A few of them have cracks and do not fit super tightly any more and I was just gonna get replacements from the local hardware store. I don't have a BMW dealer on the island I live.

A tight fit is crucial to a smooth idle. Replace them. Hardware store caps are ok as long as they fit snug.

Thanks for that info ! :2thumbup: Got caps that fit, not fan of the color, but can't be picky for $0.25/ea.

Got caps that fit, not fan of the color. . .
Those are almost exactly the color and size of the fruit from Viburnum opulus var. americanum, Zorman. Don't be surprised to see Robins perched on the side stand staring intently up at them.

To set them off draw little smiley faces on them with a fine marker. That will confuse the pondering Robins.

Zorman,
In your picture, it looks like you are developing cracks in these (http://bmwparts.englemotors.com/p/BMW_1989_K100RS/Bushing/42779701/11611460755.html)? Are you experiencing other signs of idle/power irregularity?
