Title: Can someone post pictures of how the K75 battery cover fits to the bike plz ?
Post by: TriSpark on October 31, 2016, 07:55:27 PM
Okay, I am stuck and confused here. I have a good K75 battery cover, with the hook intact, and the oem mounting spring, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how they go on the bike. Can someone post a picture of the back of the cover showing how they are supposed to fit or clip on?

I can slide the rod in facing the tail piece, hook the middle part on the rubber on the mounting stud and raise the cover up, but the spring clip at the front under the tank has me baffled. I can't see where it attaches. The cover won't stay put without it....I'm sure it's something simple, right?

What year is your bike?  I have a 1994, and your description has me baffled.

On my bike the pin at the rear goes in the hole in the cowl as you described.  Then I hook the two tabs at the top behind the flange on the bottom of the tank.  The last thing is to reach under the bottom edge and push up on the spring and push the cover in so the spring hooks over the rubber bushing on the frame.  That should hold the cover firmly in place.

Removal is the opposite.  Reach under, push up on the spring and pull the bottom out and down.  The pull the pin out of the rear cowl.

My technique is opposite to Gryphon's.

I insert the pin into the cowl as described.  I hook the metal spring onto the rubber bushing that is on the frame.  Then, I grab the top edge of the battery cover with my fingertips and pull downwards against the resistance offered by the spring, meanwhile pushing the top of the cover towards the tank.  The plastic clips moulded into the battery cover will grab the lip on the tank and the cover is secured.

Particular to the clips...

The battery cover itself is only two parts. The cover itself and the metal clip. For proper fit, the rear fender needs to have the little black sleeve (small hallow cylindrical piece of black plastic) for each side. The fuel tank MUST be properly installed, fitted and secured to the frame. The tank MUST have the black rubberized sleeves that run the length of the weld seam where the battery cover attaches. This was my experience during the reassembly phase of my K75S rebuild.

You also need to push the pins at the rear of the tank into the rubber bushes on the frame. Once you have pushed them in, you need to fit the "C" clips into the slot in the pins to keep the tank in place. Failure to fit the clips will eventually allow the side covers to do a runner when you hit a large bump, the tank moves up allowing the cover to disengage with the tank. Bye bye side cover.  :musicboohoo:

It's a 1987 K75s and these are some pictures of what  have  - I just can't see how the clip fits in and secures the cover to the frame.

Your battery side covers are not the correct ones for a K75S.  The covers in your pictures are for an RT, which has a different attachment.  They will not work on your bike if it is an S model.

Thank you Gryphon! Mystery solved. I knew this was the right place to come for the answer.

I guess it will have to go back on Ebay again......
