Hey guys I've got an intermittent problem with my new-to-me K1 that I brought back from Germany this summer.
Symptoms:
Occasionally when I go to start the bike I hit the start button and I get a single audible "click" but no turnover of the engine. When this happens, my blinkers, headlight, and horn do not work. Sometimes if I move the bike around then it will suddenly work again and start up. When it starts up I have the following issues:
Headlight will not illuminate unless I rev the engine about 3000 rpms. Blinkers will either 1) not work 2) flash once or 3) both blinkers will flash simultaneously once.
Once I ride the bike around for a minute or two all symptoms go away and everything works fine. But if I turn off the bike, there is about a 20% chance all the symptoms will come back.
The bike has a brand new battery and it did this with the old battery as well. Most of the time it starts up fine and runs with no issues. I would guess it's a starter issue except for all of the associated electrical issues with the lights/blinkers/horn.
Thoughts? Thanks for the help.
PS--I just moved back to the America and already did a round trip from Seattle to Montana and back with my RS and had a blast! Time for an oil change and new tires.

There is a connection between incipient starter failure and other electrical equipment malfunction. Here's a post for you (http://www.k100-forum.com/t2342-starter-motor-cleaning-tutorial) that could be informative. There are also many posts on MOTOBRICK.COM that would be useful, too.

Shoot, then it could be the starter. Maybe that's why it suddenly works after I move the bike around, I'm getting carbon off the brushes. Does that explain why I get light and blinker functionality only after the engine has been revved?

Then it is the starter,.....quite common problem.

And when I put the battery in last week I told me wife, "See that there? That's the starter, I want to clean that at some point." And I should have just done it then. Whoops.
