Purchased the Napa fuel filter today. I know from past recommendations many brick owners use this filter. My concern is the two rubber hoses that are included with the filter. Are they correct type of rubber hoses to use inside a k bike gas tank? Don't want to put something in there that will cause problems later on. Thanks, Ken in katy Tx.

I just use the ones from the bike. The BMW filter doesn't come with any hoses. I don't see any need to replace them unless they appear worn/degraded.

good morning everyone , i had to just join this forum site so i could add my 2 cents worth. just found this site a couple days ago. I LIKE!! well here it is. while at napa , p.n.- H209 is submersable fuel line of the correct size, and decent price. again i really think i'll like it here!!!

bmp Does anyone use the fuel line that comes with these alternative filters or have an opinion as to whether or not it is rated as submersible? I ordered a foot of the expensive fuel line (30R10) but don't think it'll be quite enough to complete the job from the fuel pump to the fuel filter to the tank.

Did your bike not have hose connected to the components in the tank that you could have measured? It seems that MAXBMW sells 3.2' of oem submersible fuel injection hose for the same price that NAPA sells only 1'. The hose won't stretch. The hose you received is likely to have rating numbers on it that you might Google for information.
I used the same lengths as the hose I replaced—13" length from pump to filter, approximately 3" length from filter to outlet pipe. The 13" length allowed the hose to pass around obstacles like internal pipes, wiring and the fuel sender without putting excess pressure on them. The filter I replaced was the original so the hose lengths were likely the original also.
Maybe somebody here will chime in with more information about different lengths that have worked.

I did not use the fuel lines included with the NAPA filter - assuming they were not submersible grade.
I ordered 2' of the submersible line from either Max or Countryside, and used that inside the tank. The PO had not used a fuel filter at all. The 2' length was sufficient for both the short length going into the filter and the longer section going out. I also replaced all the PO's worm drive hose clamps with stainless FI clamps.

Good to know that 12 inches should work :clap: as that's what I ordered, hoping it would be enough since it's 18 bucks a foot. :yow Looking at what is in my tank, the fuel line is nowhere near 24 inches :nono more like 10-12, which loops back from the filter to the fuel pump, with another 3 inches of fuel line before the filter. Thanks for the feedback. :2thumbup:

12 inches is barely enough. I ordered the Gates hose from Amazon and then decided to cut the short piece after the filter first at about 2", leaving 10" for the pump side. It is a very tight stretch. The pieces I replaced were 13" and 2" and I will go back to these lengths or even 14-15" when I replace the filter again this fall.
My NAPA only carried the same Gates hose at $40 for a 12" piece, and I was too eager for some yeehaa to wait for another piece to ship...

Thanks for the tip. :2thumbup: I too was eager to get it going but didn't want to pay shipping charges for just one piece of hose so I went with the Amazon prime foot long hose. Good to know that it's probably not best to try to get a couple inches out of that for the filter. :nono For now I'll just end up using a small piece from the old hose and then order some new for that section later. :riding:
