Title: Fuel gauge resistance / short issue
Post by: frankenwing on September 29, 2016, 12:34:35 PM
So I bought the fuel and temp gauges to add on to my K75 since the wiring harness was already there. I've got the temp gauge working fine, but the fuel gauge isn't working. But here are some interesting observations:

1: When I touch my test-light to any terminal on the yellow wire, the fuel gauge turns on and shows the correct level.

2: Since the gauge turned on and worked correctly when using a test light, I thought I'd try just attaching a straight wire from one of the terminals on the yellow wire to ground. But that just sends a full signal to the gauge and the needle goes straight up.

3: The ground wire seems to be going to the correct place.

So now I'm kind of at a loss. I'm certainly not an electricity expert by any means. But I'm baffled as to why the gauge would turn on and work correctly ONLY when I contact the yellow wire with a test-light.

Sounds like Your sensor Circuit is open, most probably the problem is where the wire goes through the
mounting plate in the bottom of the tank......or sliding contact shoe have worn trough the coil.
