Greetings. After a few mods on a 73 toaster I decided to take it a step further with an 85 k100 naked. I've mounted all new lights and speedo and am waiting for help with the wiring. I added a RS handlebar but I have some questions. I can't figure out how to keep the right-side control/grip in place. Do my original handlebar ends work with RS bars? They seem to be a different diameter. I purchased OEM RS bars from one of the parts sites. Are they the same as the original LT bars I had? Will my controls work with these RS bars? They seem to go on rather easily and dont' tighten down well. Any help appreciated. Thanks!! (note - i posted a pic of the old bars)

BMW classic K-bike bars are 22 mm in diameter so the controls should be interchangeable unless somebody had reamed their openings to fit a ⅞" bar. Get out your vernier calipers and measure diameters. You can always shim them if necessary.
Are the bar ends larger or smaller in diameter? How did you try to install them? What happened? Try to be specific in your explanations. Some of us tire easily.

They appear bigger. The original bars have a notch in the end. The bar ends fit snug into the tube. But the bar ends slide in and out of the rs bars with no grab. The original bars were heated grips. The new one is non-heated. Would that make a difference? I noticed on the parts fiche that the bar end and tubes are different for heated vs non heated

Not a Turbo. I wish. But it is a pretty rare Weissach edition. 1980. 400 made.

They seem larger by your description. I go by measurementswhen I attempt to discriminate among parts. What are their measurements— outside and inside? Theoretics aside, there seem to be differences between regardless of the reasons. What is your goal with them?

Good question regarding my goal. Do I even need them? I was thinking of a closed end grip to replace the old ones. Therefore, I wouldnt need the bar end, correct? I just need to get a shim to make sure the controls are tightened down, right? Thanks for the help!!!! Appreciate it.

Some riders use bar end weights to lessen perceived vibrations in the handlebar. I haven't ridden a K100 but vibrations seem to be an issue with some riders. You'll find out and should be able to modify your ride one way or the other.
