Please bear with me, I have yet another question;
I've an orange warning lamp illuminated in the 'ignition on' position. It is below the red oil pressure lamp, in the place I have seen other bikes show a 'choke on' lamp.
In any case, my choke isn't on, yet it's illuminated. I wondered if anyone might know what this is meant to indicate? It is an ex-polis bike, so perhaps it is related to their additional accoutrements?

I refuse to talk about that. In fact, I've no idea what you're talking about.....
But no, I don't know if it was or not, I hadn't the battery installed nor cluster plugged in before that unfortunate event.

That's one of the locations of a "choke on" light. You could always disassemble the choke to see if it turns off. :giggles

I've no qualms about pinging that b******ing choke lever off, is there a switch inside?

The switch is down at the throttle valve assembly. There's a connector for it under the tank that might be causing problems, too.

Laitch once set me straight on:
A red dash light that stays on until both brakes are activated.
Maybe it's this... ie press back brake and use the lever on the front - apparently a safety light to confirm brakes are working.

Thanks, I'll have a rummage and see if I can find something in that neck of the woods which might get it to go off. Is the switch incorporated into the TPS?

Cheers, I tried that, it puts out the large blinding red lamp in the middle of the cluster, but not this orange one.
Every picture of this cluster I've seen has a choke symbol adjacent to this lamp, but nowt in this instance.

I retrofitted the switch to all of my bricks because I have a tendency to ride around all day with the "choke" on. The switch is located at the rear inside of the throttle bodies assembly.
The adjustment of the switch is rather critical to get the light to come on and go out at the proper positions of the "choke". On one of my bikes the light has a tendency to stay on and requires fiddling to get the light to go out.

Is the switch incorporated into the TPS?
The wiring diagram I have doesn't show a connection there.

Thanks for that, so it's at the back of the throttle bodies? Handy place for it!
What triggers the switch, is it a terminal within the choke lever, or connected to movement of the cable itself?
I'm away down to the shed for a look....

Thanks for the picture, it helped me narrow down the location, seems it's buried in a spot that even light itself has difficulty reaching.
I also tracked down the connector, disconnecting it extinguished the warning lamp, so it is indeed an unmarked 'choke on' indicator. I was sorely tempted to just leave it disconnected, which is one step better than placing a neat little square of insulating tape over the lamp on the cluster, however....
Adjustment of the choke cable at the throttle bodies, by slackening it off slightly, allowed the lamp to turn off and resume satisfactory operation when the choke is engaged.
