Title: Low Seat Lock Disassembly
Post by: Shiny on August 21, 2016, 12:23:43 PM
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knew how to remove the lock core from a low seat latch. I bought one secondhand, so I don't have a key that works for it. I was hoping to insert my key and grind down the wafers like I've read in the rekeying tutorial, but I can't figure out how to open the cylinder. Any help would be appreciated.

In the MOTOBRICK.COM Technical Library index, there is a section on cases and locks. Within that section there is this post (http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,494.msg42699.html#msg42699) followed by a couple of others.

Typing K75 low seat lock into a Google search brings this post (http://www.largiader.com/tech/locks/).

Largardier makes it sound like the cylinder can't be removed unless the correct key is in it. Truth?

Shiny you need the key to remove the barrel. A good locksmith should be able to do it for a reasonable fee if you can get it there. The other method is to drill it out and replace it with a new one which is messier and probably dearer, and you need to be extremely careful, not to damage the outer housing.
Regards Martin.

Thanks Martin. That was the answer I was afraid of. Oh well,  I'll report back how much a locksmith cost me.
