Hey all,
So i'm tearing my bike down for a full restoration. I'm stuck on a few things.
1) What is the size socket I need for this?

I tried looking online, in manuals, and the Fiche and all I find are the bolts that don't include the split after the tree for the break lines. Is there a list of necessary sockets somewhere I can reference?
2) I pulled the forks yesterday and noticed one is noticeably shorter than the other (about 3 or so inches). Would this mean there's no fork oil, or springs are done for?
3) I removed the heated grips that came with the bike (left side) as all the wiring is shot. How do i remove the plastic tube on the left side of the handlebar? I can't remove the control units/clutch perch without pulling this.
4) Any tips on removing the triple? I watched a video on youtube but i can't find much info on the early bricks with the brake lines going through the steering head.

1) You need to look in the fiche Brake section, Brake Pipe, Front. See part 5. Is that it?
2) To find out what the differing tube lengths mean, you'll need to carefully disassemble each fork leg, aligning the parts as you go, then compare. Speculating now isn't productive.
3) I'd take a small screwdriver, stick it under the outboard edge of the sleeve, then spray full blast between the sleeve and the bar with penetrant using the small tube that usually comes with a can of the stuff. I'd do this around the perimeter in a few places. I've never disassembled or assembled heated grips so take this suggestion with a grain of pink Himalayan salt

Laitech to the rescue. It's definitely part #5 but its not an M16 nut. Largest wrench I had was a 19mm and the hex nut was still bigger. I went and bought a large socket set (10mm to 32mm) so hopefully one of those will fit.
I must have overlooked there was a handlebars section in the forum. I'll have to move the question over that way.

I used a 30mm and it fit. A 32mm was a bit too loose and maybe even a 28 or 29 would do better. I had a hard time with a breaker bar even somewhat getting it loose as I'm sure it hadn't been taken off since it came off the factory. I ended up purchasing a second hand impact wrench(electric) and it made quick work of the bolt in a few seconds without stripping out the nut as the breaker bar was starting to do.
