Title: Throttle cable change out
Post by: Donmystic1 on June 12, 2016, 08:49:54 AM
I have to change the throttle cable on my 1985 Naked K100. which I have converted to a RT.
I have to change one hose and one cable for the higher handle bars. (The hydraulic brake line and the throttle cable.)
I need the upgrade kit that fits down near the throttle rack on the left side of the engine .
Does anyone have any photos or videos of the procedure to change the cable going into the throttle on the handlebars.
Thanks

Don

Remove the screw that retains the electrical switches and push it straight down which will release it. Open your throttle from the handgrip and put something somewhere that will hold the  throttle in the open position. Unscrew the throttle grip cap and wiggle it upward. This will expose the cable allowing you to release it. Make sure your throttle grip and the gear marks are in line with each other upon installation.

You can release it two little hex bolts securing the brake master cylinder also, but that wasn't necessary when I did mine.

Jay, if you changed out your cable did you use the new improved version.
If so, do you have any pictures of the bracket that mounts near the throttle rack on the left side. This allows the cable to be adjusted.

I had just lubed the old one and reinstalled it. It was in fairly decent working order.
