Title: k100 barely starts, won't hold idle, revs cleanly to 5-6k
Post by: CCalms on June 10, 2016, 03:52:01 PM
I can only get it to rev out if the starter button is held down, otherwise it just idles as though it's on two cylinders and dies after a few seconds. It's my understanding that the fuel mixture is enriched while the starter button is held down. It seems to sound very nice in the 3k-5k rev range but it doesn't seem to be able to rev all the way to redline.

The bike had 29k miles and sat for 12 years before I bought it. I changed the fuel pump and injectors and rode it for about a year.
Thanks

The fact that pushing the starter button helps indicates that you are lean.

You also need to know that you have an Air Flow Meter and not a MAS.

Either you have an Air leak - which should pretty much have no effect at high rpm's, or you have a bit of a fuel delivery problem related 1 0r more cylinders.

What are the compression readings?
