i have adjusted the clutch cable length to 75mm where cable attaches to clutch release lever.
now i am trying to get the 4mm free play at the clutch hand lever but i cannot work out how to get onto the adjustment bolt and locknut.
i have viewed chris harris' you tube video where he adjusts a k75 (mine is k1100) and he has ample room but i cant see what he has dismantled to give himself that room.
so what do i need to do guys. remove foot peg brackets? remove rear wheel?
i do not have the proper tool (BMW No. 21 3 610)
i can get an open ended spanner onto the lock nut, just, but not at an angle that i can actually turn it without rounding the edges.
thanks
ross

You don't adjust the 4mm play at the release mechanism down at the gearbox, there you should adjust the
bolt fingertight (ie. no play).......then you adjust the 4mm play at adjuster screw by the hand lever.
If I remember correctly I have used a closed spanner which the ring is offset from the handle and a small
ratchet.

Inge are you sure about that? I recently replaced my clutch cable and have followed Chris Harris' video to a tee... 75 mm free length showing, by turning the adjustment at the lever, freeplay by adjusting at the gearbox... Blackie does your exhaust have that under the bike bulge? That will be in the way yeah, a k75 doesn't have that...

Just so we're all clear here, ross, the "clutch hand lever" is the lever on the handlebar that operates the clutch. You adjust free play with the knurled screw 5 in the drawing after releasing the knurled locking nut to the left of it.

thanks for your replies.
yes Dennis my bike does have the bulging chamber in my exhaust which is blocking me.
yes Laitch the "clutch hand lever" as i described it IS the lever on the handlebar. which i have adjusted with the knurled screw and lock nut.
and thank you Inge, perhaps i need to hunt down a closed spanner which the ring is offset from the handle and a small
ratchet.
god forbid i actually buy the correct tool from BMW.
any other advice greatly appreciated
thanks
