Title: Side Stand Extension

Does anyone know where I could buy a side stand extension for my K1100LT. To look at they are more of a wider foot plate for soft surfaces. I can find them for newer BMW models but not the old ones. Maybe someone has found a generic fit-all extension or one from another make/model?

Try usig an ice hockey puck or cut a slice of a rubber boat trailer roller.

I got a free side stand "puck" thing from the dealer. Has their name and phone number on it

I used a boat trailer roller that I got from the local recycle ( Dump ) for $1.00 Au. Cut off a slice to the required thickness, you can reduce the angle of lean. Position the slice on your side stand with tape, retract the stand and make sure it has clearance, move if needed. Mark the holes and drill clearance holes for the bolts, then countersink the bolt holes 1/3 of the thickness of your slice to the size of the washers you will have to fit, to stop it pulling through the rubber. I also acquired a couple of 5" post end caps ( Dump $1.00 Au ) which I put my stand on when it is really muddy. The cap serves multiple rolls it can be used to put parts in on roadside repairs, and water in with detergent when looking for tyre leaks, dog water dish, use your imagination.

A frisbee or toilet seat lid works well, too. A large tank bag helps for storage.

Since no one else has mentioned it, you can also use the old trick of a piece of ( aluminium ,wood ,steel ) plate, with a piece of cord attached for recovery. I am thinking about attaching a bit of cord to my post cap. The post cap also has one other advantage in that it can be used to counteract the angle of lean on sloping ground.
