I was cruising around Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire today and was passing a long line of cars on Route 2 east bound going up a long hill where the 2 lane road (one lane on each side) opened up a passing lane. Before I knew it I was doing 110, according to my speedo. Seemed like I still had a lot of throttle to go and it was still accelerating before I backed off. 'Hope I live long enough to collect Social Security.
Does anyone know the top speed of these things?
:yow

It'll be at least 120. I checked mine via GPS (and my calibrated speedometer) on a pretty steep downhill, tucked in and with all hard luggage attached. It says under the seat not to exceed 80 mph with the side cases on...oooops

Top theoretical speed for a stock K1100LT based solely on gearing and wheel size would be 207KPH at redline. Actual achievable speed would be less than this based on aerodynamics, engine condition and rider's balls.

My quick ride of my 88 K100LT with 140k on it had me at 170 kph in a heartbeat and it wasn't redlined ..... had more to give than I could take 1st time out in 30 years. As Robert says the personality modules determine your top speed !

I've seen my needle at 205kph and it wasn't fully rung out

The bike was very stable and I was surprised at the speed. My fear was that a cop might be watching as I was going 2x the speed limit.
Gazman - 205 kph, that's a little over 127 mph.
Bill, 170 kph = 105 mph
Just saw this.... http://www.motobrick.com/index.php?topic=6761.0
I guess Johnny gets the top speed nod, 2 up no less while pulling a trailer full of Puna Butter.

Update:
Passed a car today riding up Mt Charleston (outside of Las Vegas) as I attempted to pass, he kept going faster...and so did I. As I overtook him...her (?) I looked at the speedo and I was moving at an indicated 120 and was still accelerating (uphill). The speed limit is 55 there...is that a felony?

Only EITHER (a) if you get caught OR (b) discuss it openly on a public forum like Motobrick. :riding:
