Title: fuel sending unit
Post by: kbikeMIA on March 02, 2016, 08:11:08 PM
Been doing some research on the fuel tank sending unit while servicing the motronic connectors, thank you Johnny, The idiot light on my K75 was always on. turns out the float was full of fuel. Pin hole caused by the arm holding the float wore a hole in the float. I speculate that the idiot light on with half a tank remaining is the float is half full of fuel.

Just speculation.

Now, is there a brass float globe replacement or other acceptable repair for the OEM float? or is there a wine cork available?

You might try sealing the float with fuel resistant epoxy once the fuel is out of it.

It'll help other members, JS, if you post mechanical situations in the Workshop in the appropriate category where they're more likely to be found. Your bike, like mine, has a Jetronic system rather than a Motronic—for future reference.

That would be much appreciated. I can pre pay or send the float and advise payment amount. It's worth more than postage. My sending unit is Flakey but this will help.

Shouldn't post your info on a public forum. Too many wierdos. Just invites trouble . No slight to Motobrick members.
