Figured I'd ask before dropping at the local repair shop... Tire was on my k75c when I bought it and is, quite frankly, the most terrifying tire I have ever used for riding in the rain. Just replaced it with a spitfire.
Tons of tread left ( how could there not be, since this tire is apparently made of something ridiculously hard).
Would prefer local pickup in Arlington VA, but can certainly ship it and let you know cost.
PO records indicate it's only about a year or two old.
If I don't hear anything in a week, it'll hi the shop along with the utterly worn out front tire I'll be taking off Friday.

Thanks! I've been meaning to say howdy since I bought the k75 in August (my fourth BMW buy my first brick), and apologize for not doing so sooner!
Loving the bike--after years of airhead and oil head ownership, I'd been thinking one of these would be great, and it is!

since you are in NOVA, if you haven't already, join www.BMWBMW.org
we should do a NOVA brick ride someday!

"Tons of tread left ( how could there not be, since this tire is apparently made of something ridiculously hard)."
Strange how some modern tires still seem engineered to give both poor grip and poor longevity.
-
Fair point; at least this tire combines long life and terrible grip!
-
More accurate than po records, there is a born on date molded into the sidewall. Oval with four digits signifying week and year the tire was made.
The older a tire is, the harder the rubber gets.
-
Let me check that after work...I wonder if this things not a fossil...
-
Um, yeah, 0909 on the sidewalk--I feel bad for disrespecting this elderly tire. I shall retire it gracefully.

I've had issues with new Dunlop D404's, made in 2011, with developing cracks in the tread long before the tread itself had much wear. Might be different with a Metzler but getting hard is a different issue
