Hello Fellow Brickheads-
A friend and I are refurbishing a 1989 K100LT, and have decided to return the bike to stick, including the factory radio. I have all the proper parts, including a new stock antenna, and new handlebar switchgear.
Everything seems to work ok, except it appears that the radio code has to be programmed into the radio each time it is turned off in order for it to turn back on. I was under the impression that the code only needed to be loaded after the radio was totally disconnected from the power source. Seems odd the code would need to be loaded each time it is used...
Any feedback would've appreciated.

Meant "stock", not "stick". Autocorrect..

Sounds like you are missing the un-switched power line. Either not connected or blown fuse.
Not sure about the 100LT, but on my 1100's the un-switched line is red/blue and the switched one is violet/white.

+1 on the unswitched power. That is what holds the memory, and indicates the radio was removed.
