While Berndt is in winterstorage i am playing with plexiglass. I'm trying to make my own airfoil.
Berndt is a '93 K75RT with electric windshield. because of my height i have a some buffeting/turbulence around the top of my helmet when going more than 100 km/h. It throws my head right/left. After an hour or more i feel rather tired in my eyes trying to focus.
The electric windshield does not have a foil/lip to raise the wind above my helmet so i thought that with a piece of plexiglas I could make a small airfoil to mount on the outside of the upper windshield - like the ones on the K100RS models.
So i have cut, heatet and bend the plexiglass to shape with a little invertet wing profile to raise the the speed of the air between the windshield and the foil. The idea is the the higher speed of the air between the foil and the windshield should be able to push the air in front of the foil/windshield 5 - 10 cm higher and thus above my head.
I have enclosed two pictures from the front and of the profile of the foil. Does the profile of my foil sway enough or should i make the sway more? Maybe someone could post a picture of the profile of the K100RS foil so I ccould check the sway against my foil.

The milky look on the foil is the protective film that I will remove when i have finished it.

How tall are you?

How tall are you?
I am 184 cm

K100RS foil works for shorter riders as picture but at 6'1" does little for me.

6 ft , I wouldnt think you would have a problem. Experiment with it. Are taller windshields available?

I do not think that there are taller windshields available when you have the electric RT windshield.
I have made a steeper sway now. It's very easy. Heat the plexi in the oven at 170 degrees celsius and shape it the way you will have it.
Come spring and i will test it.

They are available but not cheap & not a lot of choice. http://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.php?T=5&NU=15&M=40&Ct=VA&SbCt=BA_15_40_VA_20

On my 2 LT's, 1 is stock and the other is 2" taller than stock.
The taller one give me less head buffeting for sure.

Oh yes - they are not cheap. I think i will try out my foil to se if it helps on the buffeting.
I will report back when winter is over and Bernd and I are back on the roads.
