Title: just ordered a new windshield for my pichler uni 4 fairing.

they suggested i buy a bit to drill acrylic which i did'nt do.
 i'm an electrician by trade and have plenty of bits around the house.
but i know nothing about acrylic,     is there a special bit i need?  dont want to f*** up a 215.00 windshield.

Why don't you pick up a scrap piece of acrylic from a glass shop and practice with the different bits you already have.
