I'm thinking about changing the oil in my forks. I figure as long as I'm there, I might as well put in some Progressive springs since they're only about $60. No big complaints about how the bike handles, but sometimes the forks feel a bit sloppy when cornering - almost like they could use a fork brace. All I know is it seems a bit more "mushy" than it should be. I'm downright retarded when it comes to suspension. So my solution is just to ensure the oil is a good weight and at the right level and throw in some springs.
Herein lies the problem - according to the notes from the PO's, the bike already has heavier weight oil and Ohlins springs. I assume Ohlins springs are generally better than Progressive, but I have no idea what was actually installed. Let me transcribe the notes and if anybody can explain to me what they think is going on, I'd appreciate it. (These notes are verbatim except what is in the parenthesis)
4/4/2000 "S" front suspension installed, 10Wt oil, preload spacers 7 5/8"
8/12/2000 K75C components installed (not sure if this relates to the next line)
Fork Spring preload 8.00"
8/21/2001 Reinstalled stock dampening rods in forks w/ 10W Belray and Ohlins Springs
11/20/2004 Fork Fluid Changed (no further details)
These notes were written by more than one PO and I know nothing about them (size, 2 up, etc). Should I just start from scratch? I'm really not opposed to spending $60 for Progressive springs even if it already has an unknown Ohlins. Thanks in advance.

My advice is to start from stratch. That way you know what you have in the tubes, and how old it is. The last time your notes showed any new additions was 10 years ago. It's time "to spring".....a pun. Upgrade your records so you can understand what you replaced. Make it easy for yourself or the next owner.

I just ordered the Progressive springs. The places I saw the springs for $60-70 charged about $20 to ship. So I figured I would just order straight from progressive.
Still waiting to hear back from Works about rebuilding my shock. The maintenance records go back 10 years and there's no record of it being purchased or being rebuilt. Depending on what they charge and the turnaround time, I'll decide then if I get it rebuilt or replace it with another option.
