Hi,
I'm looking for an original screen for my recently purchased K75S from 1987. Good condition preferred but doesn't have to be perfect.
I'm based in Plymouth, UK but would happily pay reasonable shipping from anywhere.
Pics of the bike in the welcome section if you would like to see it!
Thanks for your help in advance,
Cheers

Dirtbiker, I just ordered an Aeroflow screen for my 87 K75S. It should be here in a few days. If I like the Aeroflow, I'd be willing to part with the original, clear screen. It's in good condition. No cracks or bad scratches. Could be cleaned up pretty easily with a little plexi polish and elbow grease. It's clear, BTW, not smoke. Let me know if you're interested.

thanks, Johnny...good advice. After installing the Aeroflow and putting a 100+ miles on the bike, I found I prefer the stock screen. I took some polish to it and it cleaned up nicely. Gonna' leave it stock.

Just put 2000 miles on my "new" S over the weekend. DAMN!!! That thing is noisy. Even with earplugs, the roar of the turbulence from the shield is deafening at 85mph. Darn thing throws the air right into the upper third of my helmet and the stream is such that even leaning forward just follows it down to the screen's lip.
Are there any cures or is it just something I'll have to live with? Has anyone here cut theirs down to lower the turbulent stream and get their head in undisturbed air?

Hi Johnny,
Thanks for the links.
Help me out here - just to be sure these couple of pics from the web show what I think the original screen should be like - clear with a black piece across the bottom, am I right?

Scott - could we see a pic of yours from the front just for reference?
Cheers

Looks just like what's in your photos...

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the pic. I have found this one at Motobins which looks close to stock but a little taller: K75S RAISED SCREEN (CLEAR)) RAISED SCREEN (18.7" x 15.7")
Could you do one more favour for me and measure yours so I can compare to this one...? I'm guessing the width is the same but the screen is a couple of inches taller...
Thanks in advance!

Those K75S are sure a good looking machine. I keep telling myself I don't need another bike. Might need to go to a Multiple Bike Owner Disorder support group and carry a BMW roundel in my pocket (coin) so I don't weaken and bring home a K75S

It's a tough fight Tuco. I recently lost my battle with Kpox..

I enjoyed my RS but there is just something about the "S" models that makes me stare like the bike was Salma Hayek or something. BTW I had to smoke a cigarette after looking that yellow beauty, wow!
-
Not exact measurements, but close...
15" top lip to headlight...
15" side to side...
19" total height of screen...
-
Salma Hayek...Hmmmm.
I wonder if she is as much fun to ride as the "Yellow Peril".

Hi
Thanks for the measurements Scott. On closer inspection the screen is not quite the same shape as the original and will look similar to the on I have. I then had an idea - BMW main dealer! Called in on Saturday with the bike and they took the Chassis No and will get back to me. They seemed pretty confident - I'll let you know how I got on.
Cheers

May be worth giving motor works a ring to see if they have a good used screen if new original is very expensive http://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.php?T=5&NU=10&M=40&Ct=WA&SbCt=BA_10_40_WA_05

Hi Drut,
Thanks for the suggestion but they were the first place I tried (my last bike was an R100RT with no fairing!)
To be fair they had a good look around (lots of K75C screens) and have put me on the list if one comes in for breaking.

Hi,
Well, turns out these are available from BMW and quite reasonably priced! They have quoted two options, clear or tinted. No mention of the black piece along the bottom on the clear one. The parts guy at the dealer seemed very knowledgeable and thinks the tinted one is standard. I definitely want to go clear with the black piece, I wonder if this is a US market style?
Any thoughts?
Cheers

That black across the bottom is paint on mine. It's part of the screen.

Hi Dirtbiker
Here's a pic of the screen off my '94 75s (UK spec) - owned since 2006, but as far as I know is the stock (tinted) screen?
Overall height ~21", height of main part of screen ~17.5", width ~18"
Hope this helps.

Got the tinted one for my K75 from BMW for about $100 a number of years ago to replace a discolored clear original. Changes the look, I like it.
I see on realoem.com that only the klar is available now for a bit more.
