Title: Removing Fuel tank - Fuel will not stop
Post by: tony101 on September 12, 2015, 09:47:57 AM
Hi, well i have started to properly investigate my non starting problem ( so far i have found that i have got power at connection 2 an 3 of the Jetronic loom - idle switch) so am trying to remove the tank - a simple task one might think! - so i have done everything that the Haynes manual says (including sucking the pressure out the system) but when i disconnect the fuel pipe form the injector rail fuel comes out and does not stop (well thats not true it might eventually stop, but after half a litre came out i decided that something was not right!). So my question is how do i stop fuel coming out the tank? i thought as it was a pumped system no fuel should come out. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks Tony

What's the level of fuel in your tank?

Your symptom might be pointing to a broken fuel filter or split / disconnected hose inside the tank.  Have you peered inside?

BTW, you're right.  When you disconnect the hose from the fuel rail, only a dribble of fuel should come out.

This might help -- at least to get your tank off so you can drain and inspect it.
