So brilliant me gets a brain storm and decides to do his oil and filter change one day early, (leaving Sunday for a 5k tour) "just in case" something by rare chance happens to go wrong, which it never does on an oil change. So I'm screwing the filter in, and doesn't it, for the first time ever, feel like it's crossed threaded? Yup, back of, start again, still feel a little drag on it, so back it off, start again, and yup, she spins on nice and smoothly. Never, ever had that happen to me on the Beemer. Start to screw the cover screws back in and half-way through, one shears right off, like freaking butter...holy crap! Luckily there was enough of it sticking out to grab with a plyer, and I had three exact-sized SS screws on hand to replace them. Looking back, I should have replaced them lonnnng ago. That minor oil seeping I've been getting was due to the screw tension, not the O-ring.

Always like to do any work well ahead and check bike on short journeys before long trips:maybe I am paranoid!
