The white canister under the seat? What is it? The fluid inside (almost empty) has almost no smell so can't tell..?
-
Looks like a coolant expansion tank. Should have a hose that goes up to the coolant filler under the fuel tank.

Yep, that's what it is.
-
concur. it is the overflow tank for the coolant. there should be a hose running to the top of the radiator filler cap.
-
Super, thanks for your reply. While waiting for your guidance I followed the hoes up and... In other words.. it can be removed ;)
-
Sorry.. have to come back to this one.. Rookie question but bare with me..
I might have been a quick on this.. can it really be removed? Is the function for this that if the coolant expands in the cooler in the front.. the excess flows into this tank? Or does the coolant from the front suck fluid from this tank? i.e is it a one way flow from the cooler to this tank or a two way, where the tank acts as refill for the cooler?
Cheers
-
The 2nd part of your statement. It is a 2-way transfer system.
The bottle fills when system is warms up, then as it cools the coolant is sucked back into the system.
-
Ahh, thanks!
So then I can build a solution from a can or basically anything to replace the canister =)
-
Because you don't want the tank to run dry I think you will need something that will allow you to see the coolant level in the tank.

Hey ChristSFP,
Just so ya know, if you release the front brake on your bike, it will actually move forward in a predictable line(your avatar). And your tiors last way longer.
:yow ahh, You prolly already knew that.............................just tryin to help! :popcorm
