Hey all. Just bought a 1990 K75 that is in the middle of a Cafe conversion. The previous owner had removed the stock headlight and turn signals. He then installed a new headlight with integrated turn signals as well as a tail light with integrated signals as well.
The guy seemed to be very honest and told me about every issue he know of with the bike. So one of the issues is that the turn signals front and back are constantly on but not flashing. Also, both of the the signal indicator lights and the triangle with the exclamation point on the gauge cluster are on solid.
He said that everything was working fine a week before I bought it and I believe him on that. I suspect the flasher relay but I'm new to the bike and want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
Ideas???

how abouts posting up some photos... and are those new lights regular incandescent or newfangled led...
at this point im thinking the triangle needs both front and rear brakes to make for it to go dark... and the proper bulb...
the flashers... needs to figger out if you have oem flasher relay... after market singnalminer (http://kisantech.com/mag/index.php/signalminder.html?p=1)... or run n lites (http://www.run-n-lites.com/products.html)... or other...

I did verify it's the stock flasher relay and the lights are all LED.

So in reading more on this it sounds as if you have to add some resistors when installing LED lighting. I don't see anything other than lights connected directly to the stock wiring. It's looking more and more like this setup never worked.
If resistors are needed which signal wire would they go on, would it be in series and what resistance rating?

One 6 ohm 50W resistor in parallel with each signal light. Make sure to heat sink them so they don't burn up.

RE: load resistors -- I have four I will sell you for half what they cost on eBay. I tried them and they get very hot like rbm says. IMO you're better cutting the trace on the signal relay board. Took me about an hour to pull the tank, get the relay open, make the cut, reinstall relay and tank. I think getting the relays and heat sinks and finding a place to install them would be far costly and time consuming -- why bother?
But I'm not sure the signal relay is the cause of all the lights staying on. If you have LEDs with an unmodified signal relay board, wouldn't everything hyperflash instead of staying on solid all the time?

It should hyperflash. And the mod to the relay where you cut the trace should work. But I can't attest to that fact. My bike uses standard incandescents on the front and LEDs on the back so my bike offers a different load to the relay than would an all-LED setup. Maybe this is the response from the flasher relay with these types of signals. Otherwise, I wouldn't know why Duck proposed a complex mod to the relay in the link above rather than a simple trace cut.

Yeah it turned out to be a couple things. First off the guy who installed the aftermarket lights/signals screwed up completely. The second issue was taken care of with a modification to the flasher relay which was basically cutting a trace. Do a search and you should be able to find that procedure pretty quickly.

Hmmm, rats. Mine stay on, and he originally had an LED taillight and supplementary flashing brake lights, but I'm getting the turn-signals-stay-on even after putting everything back to incandescent bulbs.
Did cutting the trace fixing the staying on, lights on the dash, or super-fast blinking?

I would start by unplugging all signals/ headlight then test one at a time.
