Reading another post, I see a comment about oil level, and I think I may also be guilty. I have often filled my K1100RS above the center dot in the sight glass, and didn't think much about it. I guess BMW engineers would put that Dot exactly where they want it though. Maybe that is why I have noticed a drip out the bell housing, or is a contributing factor.

The center dot is ideal, but the real 'high' limit is the level of the red circle around the edge of the sight glass. It defines both the low and high. As long as you aren't above that you should be fine.

OH, well I guess I'm still OK then, since I do keep a bubble above the oil. Just curious, Thanks.

Drips out of the bell housing means either the rear seal is failing or the o-ring is hardened up. If you're lucky it won't contaminate or soak the clutch plate.

To late for that,...... Clutch was slipping, but the main seal looks OK.
