Title: Oil leak near exhaust manifold area on K100?
Post by: anto on August 01, 2015, 06:44:30 AM
Hey y'all - posted an intro in the Welcome area... I'm looking to buy a K100 (or 75) so expect a few stupid questions in this area as I check bikes out.

So looked at what turned out to be a K100LT (1990) today - image below.

Guy selling it had never ridden it - he bought it off another guy about 4 years ago and it's been sat in a garage.   Cosmetically pretty good, all visible hoses and rubber in surprisingly good condition.   The owner thought it was a "1300" but the compliance plate stated K100LT, so definitely not!   It started, blew a bit of smoke, needed a bit of choke but it's winter here now and you'd expect that.  Not registered and I didn't have gear so didn't take it on the road.

Issue was this:  I noticed an oil leak coming from around the bolts holding the exhaust header pipes.  Could this be from rings or something more cosmetic and easy to fix?

Advice welcome  :yes
