Title: 85 K100 cranks and dies
Post by: smith913 on July 29, 2015, 01:22:09 PM
Having issues starting

After taking the wiring harness off to restore the frame, it will no longer start.
It cranks for about a second then dies. I have checked the ground connection. My next step is to check the crankshaft or ball sensor. I have attached a video showing the fault.

I should also add this is my first project bike and am not super savvy with electrical issues and jargon

Thanks guys

hall sensor, not ball.

if i jump the starter on the relay it works perfect
or jumping the relay itself, it cranks fine
the switches are fine, the clutch, kill, and starter switch are all checked and good

greetings  smith913...

welcome to motobrick.com...

when i hear that the harness was removed and reinstalled i have to think back to others saying the same thing and it ended up being the positive and negative battery cables not being terminated properly or the battery was low or went bad...

butts first things first... when you say cranks for a second and dies... wanna be clear here...

when you push the start button for lets say 10 seconds... will it crank for the full 10 seconds or just 1 second and nothing...

Hey Jo,

Thanks for the reply

I did charge and test the battery and the charges coming off of it so i wasnt thinking it would be that

it will crank for only 1 second and then nothing

Thanks
