Title: woo hoo fan came on!!
Post by: bizzaro on July 15, 2015, 08:57:27 PM
So I got my cooling fan to come on, but it pissed out a bunch of coolant before the red line on the thermostat!  I did the old "idle to the red line" check again,(The fan didn't come on the first time I tried it. Since then I have given the fan the paddles,(hot wired it,) a couple o times.  Maybe I woke it up?) And this time the fan came on, just before the first red phase on the gauge.  It started pissing coolant a good bit before the red line, and now, once it cooled off, the coolant is below the low level.  Is this an issue? Is the temp sensor gone awry?  I may just add a manual fan switch to cool her down when it gets above 1/2 way mark, as the motor really seems to like it there! Whatcha think?

greetings...

as long as the tube that goes between your radiator cap and your overflow tanks is clear and can transfer liquid... im thinking you are good...

what i do is getts my radiator absolutely full with no air pockets... getts my overflow tank full... then let it seek its own level by flowing excess outta the overflow tank when the fan comes on... after a couple episodes it would stop flowing the excess and i had a full radiator...

id always be in the red before my fan would kick on... butts never overheated to where it caused whack...

whack butts true....

When you gonna start MOTOBRICK CAMP?  When you do, I  want to be first in line! Also while I gots your attention.  Bike is running rich, is there a dumb easy way to adjust it? All cylinders at once?

Yep, doing all of that!  Hard to find no ethyl. Not so bad yet. JUst blackend at the tail pipe.  Maybe  hotter plug? Better than lean I guess. Burn up a valve or somethin run n too lean.

You could check motronic water temp sensor. If it's reading low, it will run rich.
Use the search box, the temp/resistance chart has been posted here.

Hey Scott,
So I found the chart,  but honestly have no idea how to apply it, or check if my motronic is working correctly?   But what you said sparked a thought about the combination the cooling fan coming on late, and the carbon build up.  But it seems logical that a hotter engine would produce less carbon?   Bear in mind I am not a mechanic, nor electrical wiz. Basically I don't know shit and am doing my best to keep my K1100LT running right. There is just so much to this bike!! I
