Title: Alternative Fuel Tanks
Post by: AussieBrick on July 13, 2015, 06:58:42 PM
Hi All.
For any K100 or K1100 bikes, what other fuel tanks can be made to fit nicely, while keeping the ability for onboard fuel injection pumps? Any help is much appreciated.

I've never seen any 3rd party tanks on these bikes besides custom jobs.

If you're hoping for more capacity I think your best bet would be to cut a K tank in half horizontally and and then weld in sides to make it taller.

Sorry I should have been more specific.
A. metal tank that has on board fuel pump.
B. Modifiable. Eg. From any bike that is/was in production.

Modifiable means:

Sits astride backbone but on top of frame side members and can have minor welding to add necessary brackets.

Note. Capacity is not really the condideration. Within reason.

What's your objective?

You could do remote tanks, in terms of extra capacity.

If you're looking for a different shape, you could easily do a remote fuel pump, and make a tank fit with some difficulty. However, the tank has a very wide tunnel to accommodate the large frame, which could make for issues when it comes to designing a custom job.
