Title: Coolant Temp Sensor Values Query please
Post by: Dazguzzi on June 14, 2015, 03:43:03 PM
Hi, I have just removed the temp coolant sensor on my 94 K1100RS and have tested it with a multimeter, getting the following values.

Cold at ambient room temperature I am getting 2.28 ohms

Place in a small container filled with freshly boiled water I am getting 0.28 ohms

Mine is the later type with the attached fly lead and BOSCH part number 0280130079 .

Does anyone know if these values sound about right before I think of replacing it. All associated wiring connectors are really clean with no corrosion.

My bike starts instantly from cold and runs perfectly but as the temperature reaches normal it develops a hesitancy in the mid rev range , just

where you would want to keep a constant throttle when cruising. If I accelerate from this point, the bike pulls really well

Thanks Darryl

Ambient room (20°C) should be 2500 ohms and boiling water (100°C) should be about 250 ohms.  Yours doesn't seem right.

Unless he has a multimeter like one of mine that can be switched to a Rx1K setting (multiply reading times 1000).
