Title: K75 post '91 electrical digram/ switchgear funtionality
Post by: MEZ on May 28, 2015, 02:47:16 PM
Hello gents, look, I'm miles from anywhere including land mass without my Clymer manual which by the way doesn't give me the info I need hence this post..!! What I need is a diagram showing the actual functionality of the switches themselves..?? The wiring diagram for the pre'91 K75 shows funtions but it is a different loom. I am trying to blend GS12 'Canbus' switches with the 75 loom (post '91 loom) on my special build. These 'canbus' switches run one common wire which enters on pin 8 with 7 switch wires (8-core to the switch cluster each side L&R). Any info would be greatly appreciated so I can nail this mofo job asap when home.... BTW, Ive asked quite a few main dealers here in the UK for a diagram and the response I got was typical BMW cant be arsed with your Wierdo request cus you aint buying a brand new bike of US  :musicboohoo:

For the real tech heads out there, I need this info to enable me to determine which return wires from the switches to use in there normal mode ( as in, are they positive 12v or are they neg to earth which I believe is how the indicators work) and then I can use sub relays to transfer modes. Its difficult to explain but basically there is a mix of both types of modes at the switch clusters and I need this confirmation to move forward and complete my new wiring diagram before I start snipping and soldering...!!!

Hi Eric,
Firstly thanks for the reply. I believe the wiring diagram in that thread is the pre '91 75 and it's the post '91 diagram that I require. All i'm looking for is the actual functionality of the switch clusters, which switch does what etc etc if anyone reading this can help..??

Do you know exactly what year/model of bike the switches came from?

Hello Sott, yeah I havnt got any switches what I do have is a post '91 loom with some subtle differences and I am trying to integrate modern canbus switch clusters to this old loom. I just need to know the config of the switches to help determine which wires do what and where they go back too. My Clymer manual is of no use and somewhere someone may have a works manual which shows the functionality of the switches. I have a drawing of earlier k75's but not the later ones..???

Cheers anyway

Mez

Go over to http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,6948.0.html and there are some drawings (frankenduck) and links (rbm) to modern post '91 K's, and you'll see that the right combination is turn, kill, start, cancel and the left combination is Hi/Low Beam, turn, and horn. These are North American functions, if yours is European then you may have a separate on/off for the lights. Hope this helps a bit more...

Eric that might have cracked it, not fully compared the drawing yet but it certainly looks credible and of some use. Thank you indeed kind Sir...!!! :2thumbup:
