Hi guys-
I lubed my splines for the first time today. They don't look so great

I lubed them nicely and put it back together. Seems to be riding fine now.
What are my options here for a long lasting trouble free bike?

o... one of those 3 bangers... id ride it fast hard often... lube those splines approx every 20 thou...

Highly worn, save money for Bruno or find a good driveshaft as the day is not far off in the future.

Those aren't bad. A couple years ago I decided to replace a shaft in my '85 OMC Series 400 sterndrive as it didn't look that good...boat still moved fine...

Those are about where mine are one one of my k75. I just lubed the crap out of them and hope to get thru the season. But I keep it out of neutral or else you get that spline-slapping sound. I read here last year that worn splines are the cause of the slapping sound you get at idle with worn splines as they whack up against each other due to excessive play between them. Both my K75s had this and one one of them the slapping sound went away once I'd upgraded the driveshaft to nearly-new Bruno rebuild.
I still don't know whether there's enough torque on the splines in neutral to cause further spline damage but always keep the clutch engaged because the noise is annoying and is a constant reminder of what crappy shape the splines are in.
Wondering if anyone else has spline-slap and how you deal with it.

Ok, so it sounds like I should take action sooner than later. This is my main mode of transportation so 1k repair sounds better than a new bike...kind of.
This is the first time I've heard about brunos. Id buy a new drive shaft from him? And pinion shaft? This would cost around $800? Thanks!

You send your final drive and driveshaft to him and he rebuilds them. He also modifies the shaft to hold the grease in place.

i have used honda moly 60... that wurth 3000 stuff... guard dog gd525... and a cocktail of all 3 together...
im thinking for those splines i would go 1/3 of each... stir it up real good and apply (http://www.motobrick.com/index.php?topic=490.0)... then ride it and forget about it till the next 20 thou... or until i could feel it needing another lube...
im betting if you are not pulling hole shots or wheeling or stunting or shifting violently... meaning precision throttle and brake control... you will be fine for years with what you have left there...
