Title: Radiator cap
Post by: pine box on May 21, 2015, 03:07:47 PM
Hello, I am new to this site and would appreciate any assistance you folks can offer me.

I have been having problems with my 94 K11 boiling over. I have read some of previous posts and think I will change radiator cap as first step. I think fan is kicking in at appropriate time. My question is that I have a 85K100 and was curious if the cap will fit. This bike is at a friends 500 km away and I would have to make arrangements for him to send me the part. Dont want to go through hassel if it won't fit.

Same rad cap is used on all old K's, K1, K75, K100 and K1100.

Does the K radiator cap do anything to release pressure like in a typical automotive application? It looked like a plain cap to me

The cap is euqipped with two valves, overpressure (1,0 bar) and underpressure (-0,1 bar).

Also check that both gaskets is in good condition, especially the one with the smaller diameter.
