Title: Wiring in USB adaptor - where is a good spot?
Post by: technostructural on May 06, 2015, 10:51:00 PM: Hello Motobrickers,

I've purchased one of these USB adaptors (similar to the one here: http://img.etobuy.biz/w13/x7/p42/v356_1.jpg) to wire in. The one I've got has two USB ports. I'm planning on running my GPS and charging my phone from it. I suppose I could wire it directly into the battery, but I figure it'd be better if it were only operational when the electrical system is powered on.

Any suggestions where I should wire this in?

If you're thinking, "why doesn't he just get an adaptor for the several mini cigarette lighter adaptors all over the bike?", well, I would do exactly this, but I don't have enough time to wait for shipping before I leave on my trip.

Post by: rbm on May 06, 2015, 10:59:58 PM: Mount on the coil cover in the spot reserved for the power adapter. Wire it into a switched circuit within the relay box.

The same alarm plug also has unswitched leads for 24/7 12v power.

I'll have a look at this today. Do I need to take out the seat mechanism, battery, computer, etc to get to the relay box? I just put it all back together; hoping I don't have to disassemble it again! :dunno2:

Could you tell me from your experience which are the correct leads to use? I suppose I could figure this out myself with a multimeter, but I figured I'd ask!

Post by: Postman on March 18, 2018, 12:55:12 PM: Old topic but.. Just tested this 4-PIN connector with multimeter. Brown + brown/green was 12V when power is on. What i the best type of connector to take out power for USB from anti theft 4-pin connector?
