Title: Horn upgrade
Post by: F14CRAZY on April 02, 2015, 08:50:47 AM
Has anyone else upgraded their horns? According to Drake's site my bike has been upgraded with OEM BMW car horns but they don't seem that loud. I was thinking of upgrading to something like the Wolo Bad Boy.

Any thoughts?

I put on hella supertones and they are plenty loud. I might paint them black so they don't stand out so much.

It's your constitutional right to paint them black. Do it!  :hehehe

I'm not sure which way to go, I left them red on my FJ1200, but was thinking black on the K75. Either way, they are loud.

I assume they require a relay circuit to power?  You can paint any color you want.  Black is not the only choice.

The horns come with a relay, I don't think you need a relay as they don't draw that much (I looked it up but can't remember) but getting them power with new wires through a relay is a good idea.

If you did use the same wires which was connected to the OEM horns, they are allready connected via a relay.

On the K75 I used the stock wires, on my FJ1200 I installed a relay and wires.

Ive used a couple of old car horns from a 60s model ford, they're loud and sound big, i give merging cars a little blip and they get back into their lane very quickly
