Hello fellow motobrick riders. I have owned a 1996 K1100 LT SE for about a year and a half now. I like the way it eats up the miles but I feel like I need to adjust the ergonomics. When I ride it, I feel like my legs are too scrunched up and it is uncomfortable, I also have the (un)comfort seat and i am looking at other options there too. Does anyone know of a peg lowering kit? I am trying to make the bike more comfortable for long rides. One other thing, has anyone tried different handlebars? I'd llke less "pullback".

lowering the riders pegs putts your feet too close to the road in this motobrickers opinion... that and having to reconstruct and relocate the shift lever and brake pedal... with that in mind... mv verholen makes them (http://www.mv-motorrad.de/lshop,inline,14244895439688,en,1424489570-17221,,Made+to+Order+Footrest+for+ALL+Bikes,10,,.htm)...
if this was my situation i would look at having a seat made to meet my ergo requirements...
abouts the bars... most folks who install bar backs change back to stock because the steering goes whack cause the bars are no longer over the steering axis... extreme whack with swept back lt bars...
to simply raise and keep the oem geometry in relation to the steering axis you could go with rox risers (http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,570.0.html) butts your dash pad wont fit properly without modification...
k100 euro bars and k75c bars (http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,570.0.html) are higher but not swept back like the lt bars...

Hi ya. I am 6'6" and currently rise a K1100rs, but previously had a K1100lt. This had Renthal type bars fitted on a 2" riser. The anti shock device was still in place and it should be an easy swap over too. I want to do this to my RS, but will have to change all the cables and hoses etc. I found it extremely comfortable. Both bikes are naked which is the only way I can ride them long distance.
I definitely prefer the upright riding position and like the look of an undressed K1100. Get the right screen and it will give adequate protection.
I did over 2300 miles on a trip around the UK in 2013 and loved every minute (except on the M6 when I had a head on extremely high wind for a few hours. Being tall and fairly broad I catch a lot of wind and at that point could have done with a bit more protection, but on the whole I love 'em.

I am familiar with the "Master Yoda" riding position and actively practice it when i think of it. I feel that it gives me maximum focus and control but find myself slipping out of it fairly soon and part of the reason is that the LT doesn't fit me well. A major problem with this position on the LT is that the handlebars are too close to me. I need to have the grips further forward.
So thanks Johnny for the link to the various bar choices. I don't want risers, if anything I want the bars lower. The K75c bar might be a good choice. Many airhead RS riders have gone to them to be more uprite, but for me, I want to be more forward leaning than the LT bars comfortably permit.
As far as lowering the pegs goes, it looks to be a major hassle so probably not going to go there. At some point in the not too distant future I will need to get rid of the BMW "comfort" seat, for sure. That seat locks me into one position so that i can't slide back or forward (whoever designed that thing should be shot out of a cannon).
Much tinkering and adjusting to do...or maybe I'll try a K1100RS..Thanks again.

i caints roll with the lt motobrick... i tried... butts its a no go for these very reasons...
had a rs motobrick... all was well... scored a lt motobrick and it was a ergo nightmare... stuck with the rs motobrick... the low bars and lean forward are the perfect motobricking ergos... and with no lt windscreen im getting lotts of air... i donts see how those lt motobrickers do it... just aint right...

I do like the way it rolls along at 80 and then shoots to triple digits with a flick of the wrist..
So I'm going to try to get it to work for me.
Once I get a decent seat, I will re-evaluate the ergos. i think that if I could just slide back, that would solve some or most of my discomfort issues. If that isn't possible, then it's probably Craigslist for the LT.

My K1100 LT and your K75 Rt have very similar ergonomics.
Do you find that your bike is comfortable to ride? Did you make any alterations to the bars, saddle or anyting else to make it fit you better?

Don, my biggest complaint about my 75RT is that my knees are tight onto the fairing lowers. But I put highway pegs onto the "crash" bars so i do have someplace to move my feet to on long rides.
I have a Russel brand seat that is honestly the most comfortable motorcycle seat I've ever put my butt onto. That plus the smooth K75 three cylinder engine means I can do some pretty long days fairly easily, for such a relatively small bike.
The bars are stock.

I've been thinking about the hwy pegs. It gets pretty hot sitting behind the LT fairing in warmer months and it would be nice to get my legs in the airstream from time to time.
Don't have your knee problem as I am 5'8" tall and am at the minimum height that I would want to ride it as I can just barely put my feet flat at a stop.
The russell sounds like something that I might consider but I want to be able to slide around a bit to change positions. My stock BMW r90/6 seat is pretty comfortable, believe it or not.
I am planning to fiddle around with the handlebar once it gets to be riding weather around here (Boston area). I think I want to point it down a bit.

I don't think i want to change over to RS bars on my LT. The fairing just isn't made for that riding position. Conversely, IMHO, I don't think that LT bars should be used on the RS for the same reason...but could be wrong.
If/when I did decide to change to lower bars, I'd probably go with the K75C bars which are somewhere between LT & RS.

It had a small tear in the lower front. I had it repaired professionally last fall. Fits someone shorter than me, I am 6'
