Title: Frame rubber/metal mounts
Post by: PiotrK100 on February 04, 2015, 08:37:48 AM
Just finishing my frame and want to paint with powder. The problem is that there are two (zimmenblock) rubber parts where you mount the frame to the engine and that can meld down. I call my local BMW dealer and they want 35$ for each!!!!
So now the question is if anyone try to remove that rubber and did not destroy it or maybe thre are other replacemant parts that can be used instead the OEM?
Any suggestions, with experience background, will be warmly welcommed.

Thanks, Piotr.

I do not know what a zimmerblock is. Do you know the part number of the rubber parts, or photos?

Use two sockets, some washers and long bolt to draw the silentblock out, same metod when you draw it
back in.

Tim, ...zimmenblock, I think it's the name used in Poland......search silentblock.....found at the bottom end
of the front downtubes on every model with a fairing fitted from factory.

Has anyone measured the factory rubber engine mount? Energy Suspension makes a number of universal urethane bushings. Maybe something can be used in place of the $50 factory part.
