Title: Alternator carbon brushes

Just dismantle alternator and have following question:
- is the high of carbon brushes enough (see pic)?
- any cheap replacable regulator with brushes 12311459286 or just solder the new brushes?
- how to unscrew nut on the rotor, can not block the shaft.

Uff...

The service limit is 5mm free length, looks like you're just outside the limit.
To change the regulator is the easiest, change brushes is the cheapest, use a plier as a heat sink so you
don't fry the electronic parts inside the housing when melting the solder.
In the coupling you have two grooves, the tool in the drawing is used for counterholding.

Thanks Inge. This special tool will try to replace by torgue wrench, it may works :neener:
I found a regulator (new) in Poland for 20 usd so will go for it, insted of instaling new brushes. Think is better idea.

Next, will dismantle the starter as from time to time it stuck while switching on for a moment.

Do you mean that the starter continue to turn after you have removed the finger from the starter button?
If so it is caused of welded starter relay contacts due to low voltage......bad battery or connections
battery to starter relay.

Search "welded starter relay" plenty of posts about that subject in here.

No, that is other issue. When you push the button I was hearing only "click" and nothing but when I pushed a starter button again it works. It is not a big deal so far but having all appart will bring all to the best condition.

I replaced my complete regulator and brush assembly with a "Wilson" Electrical products (part # 62-15-6635) and total cost was $16.45 (Canadian $).
