Title: 84 K100 seat fixations
Post by: dfx on December 28, 2014, 03:01:46 PM
Hi
My seat is held on the bike by the rider's weight. I've decided to look into the problem and there seems to be several of them:
Seat wasn't on the pin on the right hand side of the frame. Front hinge worn and circlip missing so detached. Rear hinge (called Bow on RealOEM) not fixed to seat.  Catch wont go into hole in the lock (a common problem maybe)?
The pictures are of the rear hinge or bow. I think the small bracket that fixes to the seat is normally bonded to the rubber on the bow? What I don't get is the angle that the axis of the hinge makes with the bow ; is that normal or is mine twisted? It looks like it's welded that way. Anyway I can't seem to line up the seat with the rubber when everything is on the bike. Also, I'm wondering if the pin on the frame is bent.
If anyone could show me pictures of theirs I would be very grateful.

I t should have been a bracket glued to the rubber block that is on the hinge.
This bracket have two holes and is fixed to the bottom of the seat with two screws.
(I would guess you find it at the bottom of the seat).

Had a problem uploading the photos. Here's the bracket in this one, but look at the angle of the hinge, is that normal? When i put everything in place the bracket and the rubber don't line up. I was wondering if I could glue it back with Neoprene contact adhesive?

It should be some angle at the rear hinge.......aim at/from the front hinge, both hinge pins should
should be in the same line.

About the rubber and the bracket don't line up.....all three mountings under the seat you can adjust a bit
after you have loosen the screws.....I suggest that you glue the part together and try to mount the seat
w/o having tightened the screws fully.

I have glued these part on my LT, but don't remember which kind of glue I did use....think it was a
cyanoacrylat based express glue.

Thanks for the help. Here are a couple more photos. I just loosely placed the bracket and I'd like to be able to get it roughly lined up before reglueing it back together. Maybe you can see where I should bend it - the plate that holds the rubber or the angle of the pin?

It seems to me that that hinge with the rubber should be bent into position, so the plate is level with
the so called bow when the seat is closed.

I have also answered in your other thread, about instruments and clock.
