I've been reading some stuff on fork misalignment (from the factory) on other sites. Boy, there seem to be Beemer haters out there big time.... So is there any truth to this stuff or is it mostly worn components, maladjusted head bearings (or any of the other issues mentioned on our site), etc.? Some reports of malfunction have actually been a little scary.

Frontend wobble or oscillations could be caused by any of the reasons you've given. In addition, worn tires, worn or loose swingarm bearings, damaged rims couls also be possible causes. If you are experiencing front end wobble and you are looking for advice how to solve it, then start with the easy things first (like loose steering head bearings, loose clamp screws, check swingarm for looseness) before moving to harder things. Process of elimination.

What does that even mean? If the forks are straight and are clamped in the trees, how could they possibly be misaligned?

I'm following this thread with interest. i feel reasonably certain a bent rim is causing my front end wobble, but I'm not sure. I'll be interested to read what you find.

Try typing wobble in teh search box in the Liberry. You'll find threads on the subject.

Mine was based in notched bearings and a dry steering dampener. AS stated before, start with the easy stuff (checking for notchiness and front back movement of the head bearings, tire pressure, tire wear and the like.

those links are interesting. Mine is more of a bounce, like riding over a wash board road. not really a wobble. Still interested in where this thread goes.

Thanks for the feedback all. The hunt for a bike is still on. Winter just slowing things down a bit. I'm feeling a little jealous of those in the temperate climates who get to ride all year! I was no the Concours yesterday, however. Nice day for a ride....right around 32 degrees (O C).
