When I purchased my bike the owner included a bunch of odds and ends. Tank bag, luggage, some filters and oil etc. in addition in one of the bags was a Luftmeister K 75 "sport air cleaner". It had been opened but it looks complete. I has a K+N filter and assorted block off plates for the air box and instructions. Actually according to the instructions you remove the airbox. At any rate what is the deal with this thing? I know Luftmeister has been gone for quite a while and I have not been able to find any info on this product. Were they widely used, did they provide any benefit, is it mostly useful as a paperweight? On a K bike what is the more restrictive part, the air intake or the exhaust? On one of my previous bikes, not BMW, the air cleaner was the more restrictive piece. A more free flowing air cleaner kit was a cheap and easy way to get a bit more output along with some jetting changes. Is a more free flowing air cleaner on a K effective without a higher performance exhaust?

From what I've read in the Lieberry the best mod is advancing the timing.
Air flow is at best optimal as is the stock exhaust on the old K bikes.
