Hi, From Cliff NZ. I am considering buying a 1988 K100. Any info on parts that are interchangeable with a 1992 K1100LT/ABS, eg. front disc rotors, wheels, crash bars, etc. The K100 has only done 27,000 kilometres from new and is in good condition except has a seized clutch. Photo attached.

I may be mistaken but that pictures looks like it's got 1985 K bike sidecovers and foot peg plates.

Hi, k100lt, You may be right, I don't know enough about "K's" to tell the difference. But for the price, $ 300.00 NZD ( approx. $ 235.00 USD ) its a real cheap K. If the cost of "un seizing clutch" is not too much, I will get it back on the road, other wise I will use what parts I can for my 1992 K1100LT.
Is the 1988 ?/1985 clutch replacements very expensive for parts ?.

Search Motobins and Motorworks for prices, I know from other forums that for the Aussies it's cheaper to have the parts sendt from UK than bought home in OZ.

other wise I will use what parts I can for my 1992 K1100LT.
Very few of the parts is identical.........some instrument internals, some relays, tail light and rear flashlight.

What do you mean by seized clutch?

I would guess that the pressure plate(s) and friction disc is glued together, due to not been used for many years.

I once had a Cub Cadet riding mower do that where I worked at the time about 30 years ago. I was able to unstick it by driving it with the clutch pedal depressed. It eventually released.

I'm assuming you have a K1100 parts bike ?
Forks and complete front end will swap over - as will rear wheel giving you bigger stanchions,better suspension and 4 pot calipers.
ABS - your choice - I spent all my Kay life throwing the stuff away !!

From what I understand, it's the other way round - he has a k11 already and was considering the k100 for a parts donor...
